HOW TO RESET WINDOWS PASSWORD AND GAIN ACCESS TO THE SYSTEM

GAINING ACCESS TO THE SYSTEM

Gaining access to a password protected user account especially the one with “administrator privileges” forms the key element in hacking Windows. The following are the two important techniques using which you can gain access to any protected account on Windows without actually knowing the password.

Resetting the Windows Password

If you wish to gain access to a Windows computer whose account is password protected, resetting the password is an easy option. Windows stores all its account information and encrypted passwords in a file called “SAM”. By modifying the “SAM” file it is possible to reset the password of any user account including that of the “administrator”. You can accomplish this task using a small open-source tool known as Offline NT Password & Registry Editor. This utility works offline, that means you need to shut down and boot up the target computer using a CD or USB device such as thumb drive. The tool has the following features:

• You do not need to know the old password to set a new one.
• This tool will allow you to reset the password of any user account.
• This tool can also detect and unlock locked or disabled out user accounts.

Resources to create a bootable CD and bootable USB device are available for download separately. Both works similarly and is a matter of your convenience. However, in this book I will give a demonstration of the USB version to reset the existing password. To create a bootable USB drive, download and unzip the USB version of the tool from the above link by following the simple instructions given in the readme.txt file.

Once you have the bootable USB device in your hand, plug-in the device and boot from it. Make sure that you have enabled the USB boot option and set the top boot priority for your USB device in BIOS. Step-by-step instructions to complete the password reset process is given below:

Once the tool is running from your USB device, you should see the screen similar to the one shown above. Just follow the screen instructions and the tool will automatically detect the partition on which the Windows is installed. Usually the right options are preloaded in the square bracket as shown in the below snapshot. So, just pressing Enter key should work.

In the next step, you will be asked to “select which part of the registry to load”. You need to select the option-1 that is “Password rest [sam]” which is preloaded by default as shown below. So just press Enter to proceed.

In the next step, select the option-1 which is “Edit user data and passwords” as shown below and hit Enter.

Now, you should see a list of “Usernames” and their “Admin” status being displayed.

Select the user who has administrator privilege and hit Enter.

In the next screen you will be asked to select from a list of options that you may want to perform on the selected user. Here, just select the option-1 which is “Clear (blank) user password” and hit Enter.

This should reset the password for the user account to make it go blank, so that the next time you reboot your Windows you should be able to login automatically as if there was no password set for that user account.

Now quit editing user by pressing q and hit Enter until you proceed to the screen where you will be asked to confirm “writing back changes” to the SAM file. This step is very important where you need to press y and hit Enter as shown in the snapshot below. If you accidentally press Enter keeping the default option which is n, the reset process will fail and the whole procedure will have to be repeated again from the beginning. So, changing the default option from n to y before pressing Enter is very important.

This will complete the reset process where the existing password will be removed and set to blank. Disconnect the USB device and press CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot the computer. Now, the Windows should let you login to the system without insisting to enter the password.

Remote assistance is a great way for you to aid others with their day-to-day tech problems. It’s way better than directing someone over the phone. Because of the visual assistance, the user at the other end can learn what’s going on easily. Considering my area of expertise, I am the go-to guy in my family for any kind of computer related issues. And thanks to apps like TeamViewer, the work that’s cut out for me is considerably facilitated.

Even the seemingly simple task of adding URLs to a Windows Host file requires the user to become an owner of the file by going into the file security settings and acquiring full access permissions to work on it. Use a USB Drive as a Login Device or a Key to Windows

So, As allof already know a lot of ways to make the lock-and-unlock step more secure. Not necessarily more convenient. It’s actually a pain for users who need to get up from their desk every now and then because they have to type the password each time. Even with the picture password, you need to draw that gesture each time.

It gets irritating at times, right?

How about having a device in your pocket that unlocks the machine for you? How about converting your USB device into a physical key or login device? That’s exactly what we are going to learn and set up today. With that you will not have to remember or type your password each time. You may just plug in the device and start working.

In order to set this up we are going to use a tool called Rohos Logon Key. It replaces (or rather adds up) to the default Windows login process. And as discussed on their website you can be assured on security because the password is not stored on the USB Key in open form and all data on the Key are encrypted with AES-256 bit key length.

So, download the tool and install it on your machine. Run the .exe of the tool to get started. You may launch it at the last step of the setup too.

When the application is up you will be presented with a window with two choices. Click on the option to Setup USB Key.

Next thing is to select the user. Your USB device should be listed by default. If multiple devices are plugged in you may want to cross check and/or change the drive to the one you wish to use. When done click on the button that says Setup USB Key.

Within seconds the device should be set up. Wait for the confirmation message and click on Ok when you are prompted with one.

Note: If you want to dismantle the device you can run the app again and choose toDisable Key.

Now, you just need to worry about manually locking your machine. To unlock, just plug in the device and you are through.

Conclusion

The best part is that the device is still available for storage, transfer, etc, while it is being used as a locking device. It also has a paid version in case you want some more features (check out the differences below).

Step 2 : Now open Droid Jack.jar and create new .apk file form  “ Generate apk ” tab.Now edit fields , here i’m using

App name : stack4

File name : stack4

Dynamic DNS : 192.168.1.4 (lan ip)

Port : 1337 (you can use any port but it should be available or open for listening)

Bind with another apk : Leaving blank.You can bind this apk with another apk like whatsapp , viber , or any other android package.Here i’m not using this feature.

Stealth mode : Leaving blank.You can hide this app from launcher.Make it hidden.

Use custom icon : leaving blank.Use as  desired app icon.

Step 3 :  After successfully generating newly apk. Send it to Android device.

Step 4 : Now Click on ‘ Devices ‘ tab.Enter you port and turn on reception.

Step 5 : Open app in Android device.As soon as you open the app in the device, you can see the connected device in Droid jack device console.

Step 6 : Now you have full access over victim device.You grab messages ,call log,pin point location , listen real time calls , access data from file manager and much more .
